So I've been playing Battlefield 3 for a decent amount of time now. I though why not make a review and just put out what I think.
I'll go by IGN's categories in reviewing so:
Presentation: I think EA did a really great job presenting their game. The menu's are slick and responsive, and the game offers hours of playing time. IGN gave it a 8, mainly because people who didn't play multiplayer didn't have as much content. Well if you think of it, nowadays, who buys a first person shooter solely for campaign. I know there are some good storylines and great campaigns in the FPS genre, but the real surviving factor of the game is the multiplayer. If people wanted to play games based of single player, there are many better options: Fallout, Red Dead Redemption, Oblivion, Mass Effect. There is also Battle Log, which is pretty much CoD Elite for free. It is a great service and adds to the games whole appearance positively even more.
I give BF3's presentation a 9.5. The 0.5 because of what IGN said, it is definitely not worth knocking off two points.
Graphics: Look at BF3 on a PC on Ultra it is beautiful. Here I'll even give you a picture.
Right now, I would say BF3 and Crysis 2 have the best graphics in the industry as of now.
I give BF3 a 10/10 in graphics. It may be outdated in the future, but for now, it is one the best of 2011.
Sound: 10/10. No comment. Just listen to the game.
Gameplay: This is definitely Battlefield's most fast-paced game. It may not be as fast-paced as CoD, but it brings a excellent balance. It brings a pinch of realism, while still providing a intense FPS. People say that if you want to play a realistic war game, they say buy BF3. I don't really agree with that. Yes, it is more realistic. But it is not a simulator as many others compare it to. I don't believe any FPS should try to mimic real life. BF3 and other successful other shooters obviously don't do that. I hate the argument that BF3 is like a realistic shooter. It just adds more features than other games. It adds more explosions, destructive terrain, and vehicles. BF3, in my opinion, is just, simply, a better and more improved version of CoD. I see CoD as a game that just refreshes old ideas and adds slightly improved graphics. Proof? MW3 looks exactly the same as MW2. They know they will make money no matter what, so they just make a slightly updated game to make as much or more money than the previous game.
Getting kind off-topic, but overall, BF3's gameplay is intense, fast, beautiful, awesome, and has more realistic features than other games.
I give BF3 a 9.5 in this category. I don't give a full ten, because of the small bugs and glitches that all new games have, some will stay, some will be fixed, that is just how games are.
Lasting Appeal: 10/10. The number of unlocks and DLC content that will come provides a extremely long-lasting playtime. I can definitely see myself still playing this game for another year or two, and maybe more. The real bonus of this game is that the DLC adds new weapons and vehicles, meaning more and more unlocks.
Overall Score: 9.75/10
These are my opinions and are obviously bias.
Here is something that really steams my gears. Yes, steaming my gears. STEAMING.
WHY DID IGN GIVE MW2 BETTER SCORES IN GRAPHICS AND SOUND >_<.
Well, thanks for reading, for anyone that actually did.
Feel free to comment about what you think. I really want to hear what others have to say about the game.
